PROVIDENCE, R.I. (August 17, 2020) — Brown Urology is excited to announce its newest physician, Dr. Samuel H. Eaton is now seeing patients at its new location on Aquidneck Island, right across from Newport Hospital in the City of Newport.
“Our expansion into Newport will make it much more convenient for people on Aquidneck Island to access the world-class urologic care for which Brown Urology is known,” said Matt Uustal, Executive Director of Brown Urology. “We are thrilled that a urologist of the caliber of Dr. Eaton is joining our team. A team that recently earned a top 50 national recognition by US News and World Report.”
Dr. Eaton is a fellowship-trained urologist sub-specializing in endourology – which is the minimally invasive treatment of various urological conditions. Some of the procedures and treatments in which he specializes include:
- Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery
- Prostate Cancer
- Kidney Cancer
- Upper Tract Reconstruction
- Comprehensive Stone Management
- BPH Surgery
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Eaton to Newport Hospital. Ensuring that our patients have easy and convenient access to expert urologists is vital to our providing the best care possible,” said Crista F. Durand, President of Newport Hospital. “Dr. Eaton will be able to see patients and perform many procedures right here at Newport Hospital. For complex cases, he brings the added benefit of being part of the Minimally Invasive Urology Institute at The Miriam Hospital, the urology program which pioneered robotic surgeries in Rhode Island.“
Dr. Eaton comes to Brown Urology from Duke University Medical Center – where he was both a surgeon and assistant professor.
“I’m excited to work with Newport Hospital and Brown Urology to help expand the reach and breadth of what the practice has to offer,” said Eaton, who added he plans to bring his holistic approach to patient care to the practice. “When treating patients, not only do I want to understand what brought them to me medically, but I also want to understand where they’re coming from more generally in life. This way we can work together on whatever problem they’re facing in a way that is not only medically appropriate but also in a way that fits with their goals.”
Dr. Eaton is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign and earned his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his urology residency at Boston University Medical Center and subspecialty training in Endourology at Northwestern University in Chicago.
